On 22 November, the CENTAUR project team hosted its first workshop with the Advisory Board (AB) members to assess achievements and get feedback to further refine strategies to improve the CENTAUR platform.
Demonstrating the CENTAUR Platform
The workshop revolved around the demonstration of the CENTAUR platform. This advanced tool integrates access to indicators tackling challenges such as urban flooding and water and food security. The technical team illustrated how the platform’s capabilities support precise risk assessment and evidence-based decision-making. Advisory Board members explored these functionalities, providing valuable feedback to further improve the usability and alignment with user needs.
Key Milestones
Since June 2024, the CENTAUR project team has achieved several critical milestones, including the testing, evaluation, and validation of several innovative indicators through “cold cases” using historical data to refine the platform’s tools and prepare for operational deployment.
Transitioning to Future Phases
The project is now poised to move from testing cold cases to addressing “hot cases,” or real-time scenarios. This next step will involve deploying the platform in pre-operational modes to generating event-specific indicators to improve early warning and notification systems. This transition marks a significant advancement in CENTAUR’s mission to create dynamic, actionable tools for disaster management.
Collaborative Insights
Contributions and feedback from Advisory Board members were instrumental in refining CENTAUR’s outcomes. Their expertise helped to shape practical applications of the platform’s tools, underscoring the value of collaboration across disciplines to tackle complex challenges posed by climate change. This feedback-driven approach ensures that CENTAUR’s outputs are both innovative and applicable to real-world scenarios.
