Last week, CENTAUR representatives attended the XX Congress of the Spanish Association of Remote Sensing (AET), held in Cadiz, Spain, from 5 to 7 June.
Under the theme “Remote Sensing and Global Change: Challenges and Opportunities for Blue Growth”, the Congress served as a platform to promote discussions between scientific, institutional, and business communities invested in the field of remote sensing. Organised by the Earth Observation Group of the Institute of Marine Sciences of Andalusia (CSIC) and the Departments of Earth Sciences and Applied Physics of the University of Cádiz, the event aimed to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing.
With a focus on supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and reflecting on future challenges and opportunities, the Congress structured its scientific communications around 14 thematic areas, including emergency response.
During the emergency session, project representatives presented a scientific poster titled “CENTAUR: A new set of emergency and early warning services from Copernicus to improve response to climate change challenges”. This presentation explained the objectives of the project and its efforts to develop indexes aimed at strengthening Europe’s resilience to the consequences of climate change. Furthermore, the poster outlined different use cases where these indexes will be tested.
